  1. WHAT IT DOES.
  2.  
  3.      CAPUnlok (TM) is a memory-resident utility which makes the
  4. Caps Lock key much easier to use (or, rather, easier to stop
  5. using).  I got tired of having a couple of sentences end up in
  6. all caps except for initial letters after every CAPITALIZED
  7. HEADING.  tHIS IS WHAT HAPPENED.  iT WAS IRRITATING.  CAPUnlok 
  8. solves that problem by turning off Caps Lock when [Shift]-[any
  9. letter] is pressed.  [Shift] in combination with other keys
  10. leaves Caps Lock on.  The result is a Caps Lock that works like a
  11. typewriter's Shift Lock, only smarter; the way IBM should have
  12. programmed it from the start.

  14. HOW TO DO IT.
  15.  
  16.      CAPUnlok  is simple to use.  Just type CAPUNLOK at the DOS
  17. prompt.  You may want to copy CAPUNLOK.COM to your utilities
  18. directory and run it from your AUTOEXEC.BAT with a line like:

  20.      C:\UTILS\CAPUNLOK
  21.  
  22.      Once CAPUnlok is loaded, it will take effect in all your
  23. DOS programs.  This version can not be removed or disabled after
  24. loading.  To remove CAPUnlok (although I don't know why you would
  25. want to) you need to reboot your PC.  Due to the way Windows 3.0
  26. handles keyboard input, CAPUnlok has no effect in Windows programs,
  27. but it does work in DOS programs run under Windows.  If I receive
  28. enough requests, I will write a version to work with Windows
  29. programs.  If you experience any difficulty or unusual reaction in
  30. connection with your use of CAPUnlok, please let me know so I can 
  31. try to fix it.

  33. LEGAL STUFF (License Agreement).
  34.  
  35.      CAPUnlok is shareware.  The program and the CAPUnlok
  36. trademark belong to me.  The program and its source code are
  37. copyrighted, and any reproduction or derivation of either must be
  38. according to this agreement.  By using CAPUnlok you agree to be
  39. bound by this agreement.

  41.      You have my permission to use CAPUnlok for a reasonable time
  42. to see if it is worth anything to you.  If it is, please register
  43. your copy (see SHAMELESS PITCH below).  If not, please pass your
  44. copy on to someone else, and erase it from your system.  Using
  45. CAPUnlok for longer than you need to evaluate it, without
  46. registering it, violates this agreement and really isn't fair.

  48.      You can make copies of CAPUnlok for other people, including
  49. uploading it to BBSs, as long as you include this file with it. 
  50. You can distribute CAPUnlok (and this file), alone or with other
  51. shareware or public domain software, as long as you don't charge
  52. anything for the program(s), and not more than a reasonable
  53. amount for the disk and your efforts.  You can't distribute
  54. CAPUnlok with commercial software without my written permission.
  55. You can't include CAPUnlok, or any part or derivative of it, in
  56. other programs without my written permission.  You can't 
  57. disassemble CAPUnlok or do anything else inconsistent with the 
  58. spirit of software copyrights.

  60.      I have made my best efforts to make CAPUnlok useful, but I
  61. do not make any warranty that it will work with your computer
  62. system.  Because lots of people have sued software manufacturers
  63. for whatever reason, I have to make the following disclaimer.

  65. NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND

  73.      I have spent a lot of time writing this program.  If you
  74. find that it saves you time, or makes your computer use easier,
  75. please register CAPUnlok.  Your support will determine how much
  76. effort I put into improving CAPUnlok (maybe providing unloading
  77. or disabling, writing a Windows version, etc.) and into writing
  78. other software.

  80.      Registration is $ 10.00, which includes a license to use
  81. CAPUnlok on one computer and a copy of the most recent version
  82. (the Registered User version loads faster and takes less memory).
